Who it fits

Key specs explained for you

Power Source: Solar Powered

This unit draws energy from sunlight to run its internal systems. In bright conditions, it operates continuously without draining a battery reserve. On cloudy days, it relies on stored DC charge, which the listing notes can support up to 15 hours of cleaning. This differs from standard electric models that require frequent manual charging or hardwired connections, offering greater placement flexibility near pool edges.

Debris Basket: 5L

The device holds five liters of surface debris in its anti-spill basket. This volume allows it to collect leaves, hair, and pollen before needing to be emptied. A larger capacity reduces the frequency of maintenance checks compared to smaller skimmers. You benefit from less frequent intervention, making it suitable for pools surrounded by trees or areas with high pollen counts during specific seasons.

Filter: 150μm fine filter

This filter traps particles as small as 150 micrometers. It captures fine dust and pollen that standard nets might miss, preventing backflow into the pool water. This level of filtration helps maintain clearer water chemistry. When comparing to other robot vacuums, note that pool skimmers focus on surface filtration, whereas vacuum filters often target floor dust, serving different cleaning roles.

Control Method: App Control

You manage the device via the Yousky App on a smartphone. The interface allows you to monitor battery levels and switch between AUTO and ECO modes remotely. You can also use directional controls for targeted cleaning. This replaces physical remotes, offering convenience for users who prefer digital management. It aligns with smart home trends seen in modern robot vacuums and mops.

Anti-stranding columns: 5 inches (12cm)

Rotatable columns deploy to prevent the unit from getting stuck on obstacles under 12 centimeters high, such as pool steps. This feature ensures uninterrupted operation along edges and corners. It complements the dual ultrasonic sensors that detect walls and ladders. This mechanical aid helps maintain coverage in complex pool layouts, reducing the need for you to manually rescue the device.

Design and Build Quality

The Yousky Pura V12 measures 29.3 inches in length, 7.67 inches in width, and 10.2 inches in height. According to the listing, its housing is UV-resistant and built for weatherproof performance. This material choice suggests it can withstand prolonged exposure to outdoor pool environments without degrading quickly. The unit is gray in color, a finish that likely helps it blend into most pool surroundings.

Control is handled entirely through the Yousky App. You do not use a physical remote. The app allows you to check battery levels and switch between AUTO and ECO modes. This digital layout means you manage the device from anywhere, rather than standing by the pool edge. The listing notes it supports directional controls for personalized maintenance, giving you direct input over its path.

Physical design includes rotatable retractable anti-stranding columns. These deploy to navigate obstacles under 5 inches high, such as pool steps. The device also uses dual ultrasonic sensors to detect walls and ladders. This sensor placement helps it adjust its path automatically. The combination of these physical features and app controls creates a system designed for uninterrupted surface cleaning. You rely on the app for setup and the sensors for navigation, with the durable build supporting daily outdoor use.

Setup And Everyday Use Guide

The Yousky Pura V12 requires minimal manual setup for daily operation. You place the unit directly on the pool surface. It is designed for surface cleaning only, so you do not need to submerge it. The listing confirms it supports app control via the Yousky App. You use this interface to monitor real-time battery levels and adjust operation modes. You can switch between AUTO mode for full cleaning or ECO mode to conserve power. The app also provides directional controls if you need to guide the robot manually.

For everyday use, the robot relies on solar charging. In bright sunlight, it runs continuously without draining its internal battery. On cloudy days, it uses stored DC charge, which the data indicates can support up to 15 hours of cleaning. This allows for consistent 24/7 maintenance. The unit features dual ultrasonic sensors to detect walls and obstacles. It automatically adjusts its path to avoid getting stuck on ladders or pool edges. You can deploy the rotatable retractable anti-stranding columns for obstacles under 5 inches high. This ensures uninterrupted travel along steps.

You must maintain the filtration system regularly. The 5L debris basket and 150μm fine filter trap leaves, hair, and pollen. You need to empty the basket to prevent backflow. The device also includes a compartment for standard 3-inch chlorine tablets. You place these tablets inside to help balance water chemistry. The listing notes that tablets are not included. You add them as needed to keep the water clear. The salt-chlorine tolerant motors allow the unit to function in chlorinated or saltwater pools without corrosion issues.

Before You Buy This Skimmer

You need to verify your pool’s chlorine compatibility before purchasing. The unit accepts standard 3-inch tablets, but you must supply them separately. Ensure your pool surface allows for unobstructed travel, as the device is designed for surface cleaning only. The anti-stranding columns deploy for obstacles under five inches, so deeper steps may require manual intervention. You will need a smartphone with the Yousky App installed to monitor battery levels and switch modes. Regularly empty the five-liter debris basket and rinse the 150-micron filter to maintain suction efficiency. This model fits into a broader ecosystem of automated pool care. Unlike vacuum-style cleaners that clean floors, this unit focuses exclusively on the water’s surface. It complements other robotic options by handling floating debris and pollen continuously. You should check that your pool’s shape allows for the dual ultrasonic sensors to detect walls effectively. Proper placement ensures the obstacle avoidance system works as intended.

Check before you buy

• Confirm pool surface is clear for continuous solar operation.
• Verify smartphone compatibility with the Yousky App.
• Check if standard 3-inch chlorine tablets are available.
• Ensure steps are under five inches high for anti-stranding.
