VRXIQ+ vs Freedom Plus Comparison
Power Source
The Polaris VRXIQ+ relies on a 70-foot power cable for continuous operation, providing consistent energy for its Vortex Vacuum technology. This wired approach ensures the unit can run for extended periods without stopping to recharge. In contrast, the Polaris Freedom Plus is a cordless model powered by an internal battery. It charges in the included outdoor-rated caddy, taking five hours or less for a full charge. The Freedom Plus offers mobility without the constraint of a long tether, while the VRXIQ+ prioritizes uninterrupted runtime through its direct power connection.
Control Method
Both cleaners offer advanced digital control via the iAquaLink app, allowing you to schedule cycles and monitor status remotely. The VRXIQ+ focuses on app-based management and Wi-Fi connectivity for reliable access. The Freedom Plus adds a unique hand-held remote that uses LiFi technology to communicate with the unit underwater. This allows you to call the cleaner to the waterline for easy retrieval. The Freedom Plus also includes a manual retrieval hook for use with a standard pole, giving you three distinct ways to locate and collect the device.
Cleaning Coverage
The Polaris VRXIQ+ is designed to clean floors up to the waterline using its 4WD agility and powerful suction. It features seven different cleaning cycles, including a specific waterline-only mode for customized cleaning tasks. Its SMART Cycle Cleaning Mode assesses your pool’s shape, size, and surface material to calculate the optimal time needed for a complete clean. The data for the Polaris Freedom Plus does not specify detailed cleaning zones or cycle counts, though it is built for in-ground pools. The VRXIQ+ provides more explicit coverage details.
Debris Management
The Polaris VRXIQ+ features a large, illuminated debris canister with a transparent window. This design lets you clearly see when the unit is full, making maintenance straightforward. The light helps you check the status even in darker areas. The Polaris Freedom Plus data does not specify the type or size of its debris collection system. It focuses on retrieval methods and charging rather than canister visibility. If easy visual monitoring of debris levels is a priority, the VRXIQ+ offers a clear advantage with its lighted, transparent design.
Physical Dimensions
The Polaris VRXIQ+ is larger, measuring 22 inches in width and length, with a height of 18.5 inches. It weighs 44 pounds. The Polaris Freedom Plus is more compact, measuring 14 inches wide, 10 inches long, and 11 inches high. It weighs 40.8 pounds. The Freedom Plus is lighter and smaller, which may make it easier to handle and store. The VRXIQ+ is bulkier, potentially offering more internal space for components or debris, but requires more storage room. Your choice depends on whether you prefer a smaller footprint or a larger unit.
