This coasteering astra cordless pool vacuum review examines a device built for thorough pool maintenance. The CoasTeering Astra is a cordless robot cleaner designed for both inground and above-ground pools. It stands out with two key specs: a powerful 11,160 GPH suction system and a large 8,700mAh battery. These components work together to handle heavy debris and provide up to 180 minutes of runtime. The unit measures 15.1 by 15.2 by 10 inches and weighs enough to stay submerged during operation. It targets pools up to 3,500 square feet. This spec-based look helps you decide if its cleaning capabilities match your pool's size and debris levels.
What stands out
- 11,160 GPH suction powered by four brushless motors
- Lateral waterline scrubbing technology for side-to-side cleaning
- Smart retrieval system that parks near the waterline
- 180-minute runtime on a single 8,700mAh charge
- Five cleaning modes including floor, wall, and waterline only
Who it fits
Good fit for
You should consider this cleaner if you have a pool up to 3,500 square feet. The 180-minute runtime ensures it can cover large areas without needing a recharge. The four-motor suction system handles heavy debris like gravel, twigs, and wet leaves effectively. If you struggle with oily scum lines, the lateral waterline scrubbing is a practical feature. The automatic retrieval system also suits those who want to avoid reaching into the water to pick up the device after a cycle.
Who should skip it
Skip this model if you need a cleaner for pools larger than 3,500 square feet. The 180-minute battery life may not be sufficient for those larger spaces in a single run. If you prefer a tethered robot for unlimited runtime, the cordless design limits continuous operation. Also, note that the device is ideal for above-ground pools according to its attributes, though it lists inground compatibility. If your pool has complex obstacles that require more advanced navigation than ranging sensors, this might not be the best fit.
Verdict: The CoasTeering Astra offers strong suction and versatile cleaning modes for medium-sized pools. Its cordless design and smart retrieval add convenience for routine maintenance.
Key Specs Explained For You
Suction Power: 11,160 GPH
This rating indicates the volume of water the unit moves per hour. High suction helps lift heavy debris like gravel, twigs, and wet leaves from pool surfaces. You benefit from faster cleaning cycles and less manual pre-cleaning. When comparing robot vacuums and robot mops, higher flow rates generally mean better performance on tough messes. This spec ensures the Astra handles varied pool waste efficiently without clogging.
Battery Runtime: Up to 180 minutes
The 8,700mAh battery allows the cleaner to operate for three hours on a single charge. This duration covers pools up to 3,500 square feet without interruption. You do not need to pause and recharge mid-cycle for medium-sized pools. Compare this to models with shorter runtimes that may require multiple sessions. Extended battery life ensures thorough coverage of floors, walls, and waterlines in one go.
Navigation Type: Underwater ranging sensors
These sensors detect obstacles like drains and steps to plan efficient routes. The system avoids hang-ups and reduces missed spots during cleaning. You get consistent coverage without the robot getting stuck. When shopping for robot vacuums and robot mops, advanced navigation prevents repetitive cleaning of the same areas. This technology ensures the device adapts to your pool layout for a complete job every time.
Cleaning Coverage: Floor, wall, waterline
The Astra cleans three distinct surfaces, including specialized side-to-side scrubbing at the waterline. This removes oily scum and sunscreen residue that standard vertical cleaners miss. You achieve a brighter pool edge and fewer hand-scrubbing sessions. Compare this to basic models that only vacuum the floor. Comprehensive surface coverage ensures all visible areas remain clean, reducing algae buildup and improving overall water clarity.
Power Source: Cordless, 8,700mAh battery
Being cordless eliminates tangled wires and allows free movement throughout the pool. You avoid the hassle of managing power cords near the water. The built-in battery charges separately, keeping the unit compact. When comparing robot vacuums and robot mops, cordless designs offer greater safety and convenience. This feature ensures you can retrieve the robot easily without reaching into the pool water.
Design and build quality
The CoasTeering Astra measures 15.2 inches in length, 15.1 inches in width, and 10 inches in height. Its grey and black casing suggests a durable plastic construction typical for submersible electronics. The listing does not specify the exact materials or weight, but these dimensions indicate a compact footprint that fits comfortably in most residential pools. You can expect it to navigate standard pool geometries without obstruction.
Control and interface elements are minimal on the unit itself. The listing highlights a flashing indicator light that signals standby mode near the waterline. This design choice means you do not need to reach into the pool to retrieve the device. It automatically parks for over nine hours, allowing for easy pickup without getting wet. This feature simplifies maintenance routines significantly.
The layout prioritizes functional integration over aesthetic complexity. Four brushless motors drive the suction and movement, housed within the main body. This internal arrangement protects critical components from pool chemicals and debris. The side-to-side scrubbing mechanism for waterline cleaning is built into the chassis edges. This structural choice ensures consistent contact with pool walls, removing oils and sunscreen residue effectively. The overall build supports its role as a fully autonomous cleaner, requiring no manual steering or external controls during operation.
Setup And Daily Operation Guide
Setting up the CoasTeering Astra requires no complex installation. You simply place the cordless unit into your pool. The device operates entirely on its internal 8,700mAh battery, so there are no external power cords to manage or worry about near the water. This cordless design allows you to move the cleaner freely for initial positioning without tether constraints.
Daily use begins when you activate the cleaning cycle. The Astra uses underwater ranging sensors and advanced navigation algorithms to map your pool. It detects obstacles like drains or steps and adjusts its route to avoid getting stuck. You can select from five specific modes. Choose Floor-Only for basic debris removal, or Wall-Only and Waterline-Only for targeted cleaning. The Auto mode intelligently switches between wall and floor cleaning based on power levels.
The unit delivers up to 180 minutes of runtime on a single charge. This capacity supports cleaning pools up to 3,500 square feet. During operation, the four brushless motors provide 11,160 GPH of suction. The side-to-side scrubbing action at the waterline removes oils and sunscreen residue that vertical cleaners often miss.
When the cycle finishes, the Astra returns to a designated parking spot near the waterline. It stays there for over nine hours with a flashing indicator light. Retrieval is straightforward. You do not need a hook or pole. The unit climbs the wall and rises to the surface automatically. This feature keeps you dry and eliminates the need to reach into the pool water to collect the device.
Before You Buy This Robot Pool Cleaner
Before you buy the CoasTeering Astra, verify your pool dimensions. The listing states it covers up to 3,500 square feet, so ensure your space fits within this limit. Check that your pool is compatible with both inground and above-ground configurations, as the device supports both types. Since it is cordless, you do not need external power sources near the water, but you must have a charging area accessible for the 8,700mAh battery. Consider the maintenance of its filters, as it handles heavy debris like gravel and wet leaves. You may need to clean the brushes regularly to maintain the 11,160 GPH suction efficiency. This robot mops the floor, walls, and waterline, offering a comprehensive clean that manual tools cannot match. It replaces the need for poles and nets for most tasks. However, if your pool has complex obstacles, the underwater ranging sensors help, but simple layouts are easier for navigation. Ensure you have time for the 180-minute runtime to complete the cycle. This unit suits those who want automated, thorough cleaning without wiring hassles.
Check before you buy
- Confirm your pool is under 3,500 square feet.
- Ensure your pool type is inground or above-ground.
- Check for a nearby charging spot for the battery.
- Verify you can access the waterline for retrieval.
